In downtown Kansas City, a James Beard-nominated chef is redefining the concept of a Midwestern table. Chile smoked pork chops are served on top of okra and corn bread. Sizzling shrimp are tossed with country ham and shiso. Tahini cakes sit next to blackberries and lebneh ice cream. These inventive dishes are made in collaboration with local ranchers, farmers and purveyors — and all served on Wolf Ceramics!
We've loved working with the executive chef Johnny Leach and Town Company to develop a special collection of plates and bowls that we now sell as our "Kansas City" dinnerware line. Known for its clean lines and vertical walls, this contemporary dinnerware collection was designed specifically with chefs and restaurants in mind.
Clean lines lend to easy stacking, and the vertical walls act like a frame around a canvas for artful plating. And for excited diners, the vertical walls also make it easy to scrape your plate clean! Since we developed this line for Town, these dishes have made their way into many more restaurants and homes around the country.
The Kansas City dinnerware line has become the contemporary counterpart to our original Portland dinnerware series. Styles in both are available ready to ship, as well as made to order.
While the Portland plates and bowls have a more classic feel, both lines are made with the same clay body and speckled satin glaze that makes for easy mixing-and-matching. You'll see that Leach's team serves dishes on both the Kansas City and Portland style plates and bowls. Truly, there are no rules!
